New Bankruptcy Fees:

The U.S. Bankruptcy Courts have increased fees regarding the filing of new cases as of November 1, 2011.

Here is a list of the new filing fees:
Chapter 7: Old Fee  $299.00 – New Fee: $306.00
Chapter 13: Old Fee $274.00 – New Fee: $281.00

In addition to the increased fee for new Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, the Bankruptcy Courts are increasing fees on miscellaneous items as well. For example,  debtors will now have to pay $30 to amend their Bankruptcy case, which is a $4.00 increase from the old fee of $26.00.

While these fee increases may not seem high, it is a shot in the arm for Debtors who are already struggling with debts and puts access to the Courts further away from the people who need it the most.
